Darkness was still enveloping, the car drove against the chill of the morning ..
At 5 am local time, Mr Simon and I went to Open Primary High School in Tupi, South Cotabato, Philiphines.

Mr. Simons was teaching civic education
Whereas Mr. Nandang went to Open Primary High School in Laensasi, Glan Sarangani Province, Philiphines.
The trip took about 3 hours by personal vehicle but need 4 hours by Public Transportation. Along the way, I was treated to a beautiful view.

The writer and the local residents
Our arrival at Tupi, we talked with the local residents while waiting for students who were late because they had to going through a broken bridge. After the children had gathered, the first lesson was Civic Education (PPKn) about “Bela negara” taught by Mr. Simon. I also teached childrens Bahasa Indonesia in 7th and 8th grade. Though they’re still difficult to speaking but I tried to make them talkactive by reading and asking questions. They also watched learning video to improve their Bahasa skills.

Students could learn Bahasa easier with the help of ICT tool
At 12 o’clock, we took a break and lunch. The next lesson was Skill subject, they made “ketupat” from the young coconut leaves. I was taught by Mrs. Jo, it was not as easy as it looked, but finally I could make it.
At 3pm we went home because it had started to rain. I was very touched considering the distance taht students had to go very far about an hour from their place, but they were still eager to learn, so it is the one that encouraged teachers to keep teaching.
I arrived at House of Indonesia about 8.30 pm. I think, it was my meaningful experience. (el)
